My research builds on the Digital Trust and Safety Partnership’s (DTSP) Safe Framework which specifies a set of 35 trust and safety best practices (like Abuse Pattern Analysis, Transparency Reports, Risk Assessments etc.) In an ideal world, internet platforms and communication services would integrate all 35 trust and safety practices into their products and services. However, recognizing the economic realities of today, where organizations are budget and headcount constrained, there is a need to prioritize certain practices over others based on the monetary and non-monetary (legal) cost of non-compliance. This session will provide an evidence driven approach to prioritise T&S best practices that impose the highest cost of non-compliance based on qualitative and quantitative criteria.
