The unchecked use of algorithmic decision-making systems (ADS) has adversely affected millions of Americans, potentially violating civil rights and perpetuating historical inequalities. We suggest that Trust & Safety Professionals should develop comprehensive AI auditing tools that can ensure AI systems operate legally and safely, saving time and resources, while also addressing concerns raised in Executive Order 13985 about algorithmic discrimination. Besides auditing tools, the proposed session will explore code signing technology as a means to enhance transparency and accountability in ADS, helping to prevent software tampering and ensure accurate, verifiable record-keeping. This combined approach can provide new insights and solutions for Trust & Safety practices, thereby ensuring compliance and transparency in the ADS development and use.
