Murray Perkins is Director, Regulation & Safety with WebGroup Czech Republic where he focuses
on global regulation, trust and safety, and effective child protection efforts. Murray is also a UK
based consultant and Director at 18North advising on media regulation, online safety and age-
verification. He has been an advisory board member for the age-verification and digital ID company,
1account. Prior to his current work, Murray was Policy Director at the British Board of Film
Classification. During his 20 years with the BBFC, Murray was responsible for the regulation and
classification of adult content and he led the BBFC’s work as age-verification regulator under the
UK’s Digital Economy Act 2017 to introduce age-verification for online pornography. Before coming
to the UK, Murray worked for the Office of Film and Literature Classification in his native New
Zealand.
