Michael is Chief Legal Adviser at Netsafe providing the full range of legal advice on all of Netsafe's functions and activities including advising on the interpretation and application of New Zealand's Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015, innovative tools and products to improve online safety in New Zealand, advocacy for appropriate law reform, and Government relations. Prior to joining Netsafe Michael was a legal adviser to the UK Government where he worked on constitutional and criminal law reform and more recently was a key member of the team advising on and negotiating the UK's exit from and reformed relationship with the European Union. He currently lives in rural New Zealand.
