Amber McDonald, Ph.D., LCSW is the Deputy Director of and Assistant Professor for the START Clinic at the University of Colorado School. She is responsible for strategic planning, grant writing, research, clinical oversight and supervision in the clinical outpatient trauma-treatment center, with a specialty in complex trauma, human behavior, and development. She has taught nationally and internationally on topics related to forensic interviewing, investigations involving persons who are neurodiverse, human trafficking, co-response, and trauma. She provides violence clinical risk assessments to individuals and provides counseling services. Further, she clinically manages a Colorado police-mental health co-responder team, is the Chair of the Colorado Co-Response Alliance, and a Clinical Advisor for the Denver FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. She provides consultation services to public and private-sector agencies, school districts and businesses regarding violence risk and threat assessment. She is sought for expert testimony in criminal and civil cases involving major crimes.
