Dr Mark Kavenagh is the Director of Evident - a Bangkok-based social research company that supports clients and partners to bridge the gap between research and international development programming, predominantly working on child sexual exploitation, abuse and human trafficking.
Mark began his career as an Australian psychologist working with children and families before moving into international child protection in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. His 20-year career has included roles with small organisations as well as regional roles for organisations like ChildFund and UNICEF. Mark headed ECPAT International’s research team from 2018-2021 during which time he oversaw the release of 90+ research publications, including the 13-country reserach into online child sexual exploitation and abuse - Disrupting Harm. He has written academically on child sexual abuse and trafficking, particularly focused on boys and LGBTQ+ people. Mark holds a Doctorate of Educational Psychology from the University of Melbourne.
