Name
Global Majority Research Salon
Description

In the Enlightenment age, a thinking society gathered at salons to exchange ideas and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation. We propose a discussion-rich Salon aimed at gathering current and emergent trends on T&S concerns in the Majority World. Social Learning theory suggests that individuals learn best when they observe and participate, and that understanding is socially constructed. The Salon format adheres to this theory, where the collective work of the group will increase knowledge through observation and further conversation. The Salon will create an informal space for participants to share their insights in this 120 minute workshop. Each brief share-out will be followed by facilitated discussion time with real-time capture of knowledge. Thus the Salon will serve two main objectives: 1) promoting intellectual exchanges of ideas on frontier research of the Global Majority, and 2) building a dialogue between Global Majority scholars and the broader T&S community.

This workshop's target audience includes researchers from academia, civil society or industry, and people who have a history of prior work or scholarship on the topic. You are welcome to share recently completed or work-in-progress research with the group.
