The incoherency of extremism - or the fact that users can blend together different ideological motifs or express a convergence of ideological motifs is one of the biggest hurdles to detecting extremist behaviors online. This lecture aims to shed light on the phenomenon known as "Fused Extremism" (Koch 2022; Koch, Nahon &Moghadam, 2023) while focusing on its online and offline manifestations - and the challenges such manifestations pose to tech companies as well as to law-enforcement agencies around the world. The full title of this presentation is: Fused Extremism: Bridging Radical Divides - Insights and Strategies for Countering the Threat of Merged Extremist Movements.
