Trust & Safety teams assume people participate online because they trust platforms to keep them safe. User research can help us investigate this hypothesis. However, many teams don’t fully know how to measure these concepts or what to do after. This panel will conduct a deep dive with measurement experts to investigate three areas. First, how do we operationalize “safety” and “trust,” and what does it mean to define a trusted or safe experience, particularly through the lenses of “exposure” and “perception”? Second, how do we know the impact of supposedly safe and trusted experiences on the overall user experience? Finally, what do we do with those measurements to make them actionable for teams? The panelists will touch on the development of measures via scalable survey methods, and they will use case studies from across the industry to demonstrate how we can measure if users actually trust or feel safe.
