Name
Designing for Child Privacy and Safety: Legal Landscape, Best Practices & Tools
Description

This talk is part of a two-presentation session running from 2:50 PM - 3:40 PM. The session will feature two presentations back-to-back, with Q&A after each presentation.

Most companies would agree that they share a commitment to keeping children safe online. This reflects consumer expectations, and, increasingly, legal requirements. - However, what this commitment means seems to vary among companies, parents, lawmakers, and youth. Around the world, lawmakers and regulators seem to be converging around similar approaches to children's online safety and data privacy, with clear themes emerging. This presentation will (1) provide a concise overview of these approaches, both in the US and internationally, (2) highlight the current legal landscape that's resulted in response to these approaches, (3) set out and explain the common standards that constitute international best practice, and (4) share practical tools for industry professionals to design products and services that deliver for all.
