This talk is part of a two-presentation session running from 4:10 PM - 5:00 PM. The session will feature two presentations back-to-back, with Q&A after each presentation.
The ‘Leaked’ Project seeks to understand Thai young people’s perceptions and experiences regarding self-generated sexual content, which can emerge from deception or coercion or can be consensually created. This content may occur in various forms of harm, or even result in no harm at all. Addressing the scarcity of Global South data on this topic, 'Leaked' will explore the social context in which technology is intersecting with modern relationship and how to address potential harm, by conducting a survey of 2000 young people in Thailand’s North, followed by the development and piloting of harm minimisation interventions tailored for younger (9-12) and older (13-17) age cohorts. The survey will be fielded in July-August 2024 so this presentation will describe the ethical research design for studying this socially complex topic in Thailand and will share preliminary insights from pilot testing, youth consultations, and informant interviews that are part of the design process.
