With 35% of Ghana's youth accessing the internet, the nation is at the forefront of combating child online exploitation and CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) in Africa. This presentation examines Ghana's strategies against these issues, highlighting legislative efforts, digital literacy campaigns, and international collaborations. Despite challenges, such as resource limitations and the need for improved digital literacy, Ghana has seen a 25% increase in CSAM detection rates in the past two years, indicating progress in its protective measures. This session will discuss Ghana's successes and ongoing challenges, emphasizing the necessity of a unified African strategy to address child online safety. It advocates for comprehensive approaches that combine legal action, education, and technology to protect children online. Through Ghana's experience, we aim to explore effective models for enhancing child internet safety across Africa and beyond, underscoring the importance of global cooperation and community engagement in this critical endeavor.
