Jina Yoon is a doctoral student at the University of Washington researching ways to make people nicer to each other on the internet. Her work explores how online platform designs influence social motivation, and she aims to build systems that leverage these mechanisms for good. Prior to starting her PhD program, Jina graduated from Brown University in 2018 where she studied Computer Science and Modern Culture & Media. She gained several years of industry experience at Microsoft and Riot Games. Her work has since received support from sources including the NSF, ARCS Foundation, LEAP Alliance, and NCWIT.
