What Does Regulation Look Like In Practice? The Supervision Model
Description

This 120 minute workshop will begin with a 20 minute presentation on the supervisory relationship and Ofcom’s experiences supervising services so far and learnings on developing a supervision regime. Then participants will be broken into teams of roughly 5 to discuss specific case studies, with some groups approaching the issue as a regulator and other groups as T&S professionals. They will spend 20 minutes discussing a case study and 15 minutes coming together with another group to discuss where they are coming from. This will be done twice (using different case studies), with each group getting to be both the regulator and T&S professional. Case studies could include the following scenarios: how to approach issues with systems and processes designed to protect children from harmful material, considerations of transparency, the content of risk assessments, and how to respond to major incidents. The final 30 minutes of the session will spend 20 minutes opened up to group discussion on what participants learnt and principles that participants believe underpin a good supervisory relationship, as well as allowing 10 minutes for Q&A.

This workshop is open to all TrustCon attendees.
