Name
Meaningful Platform Transparency: Transparency to Inform Society & Prepare for Upcoming Regulations
Description

This session will cover best practices for meaningful transparency from platforms. This work is the output of an Integrity Institute working group on best practices for transparency, composed of trust and safety workers from a variety of platforms and roles. The presentation will give an overview of the different forms that transparency can take, as well as the possible benefits and trade-offs. It is meant to serve as a guidepost for industry leaders looking to start or improve their transparency programs, and prepare for upcoming regulation like the Digital Services Act and UK Online Safety Bill which will have audit and risk assessment requirements with transparency implications. It will also serve as a resource for policymakers, to improve their understanding of what transparency means and can achieve. The presentation will share agreed best practices from trust and safety professionals, and provide an opportunity to refine a resource that is available to T&S professionals, policymakers and industry professionals outside the T&S space.
